10 Worst WWE Transformations In Recent Memory
8. Chad Gable
One of Vince McMahon’s biggest pet hates is tag team wrestling. He just doesn’t see the value in it, and rarely in modern-day WWE has he placed any real importance around building credible teams to develop a strong duos division. Breaking up popular or tenured teams for no reason is common finger-pointer proof of this, but it is just as obvious when a tag-team specialist is transitioned into a directionless singles ‘star’.
Case in point, Chad Gable.
The former Olympian was once considered the second coming of Kurt Angle. This has been fans perception of the endearingly dorky Gable, ever since finding success alongside Jason Jordan as one half of American Alpha in NXT. It has long been the plea of the fanbase to see Gable become Angle 2.0 since hitting the main roster. Sadly, the company have always had other, and in one particular case, insultingly bad plans for him.
Shorty G. Those two words send shivers down the spine of everyone wrestling purist, and supporters of the supremely sensational Chad Gable.
The criticism of the Shorty G repackaging has been done to death for good reason, but simply put it was one of those ill-fated ideas which send superstars to the brink of no return. Meanwhile, this Alpha Academy phase that Chad is currently going through has been stalling since its inception, and it is only doing harm to himself and those he recruits.
