10 WrestleMania Matches We’re Still Waiting To See
2. The Undertaker Vs. Sting
At WrestleMania 31, we saw Sting compete in a WWE ring for the first time in history, something that had previously seemed pure fantasy. There, he faced Triple H, and though that was certainly a WrestleMania-calibre match, it wasn’t the one that most people wanted.
For years, decades even, fans had been clamouring for Sting to face off against The Undertaker in a battle of two stalwarts of their respective companies from the Monday Night Wars.
After WCW’s demise, some harboured slim hopes of that match taking place at WrestleMania X8, and while Sting was apparently approached about a match at the show, the story goes that it would have involved Kurt Angle rather than The Undertaker. Then, nine years later, Sting allegedly turned down a WrestleMania XXVII meeting with 'the Deadman', according to an interview with the Daily Star. But when Sting signed on in 2015, we were closer than ever to that match taking place: a clash of two icons who had managed to evolve and remain relevant for the better part of two and a half decades in the business.
Unfortunately, though, it wasn’t to be, and with Sting’s in-ring career now over, this one has passed us by.
