10 Wrestler Movie Cameos You Totally Missed
1. Ludvig Borga - Die Hard With A Vengeance
Perhaps one of the most overlooked wrestler cameos in the history of the silver screen is also one of the most viewed.
Tony Halme's wrestling career saw a number of highlights, including a run in New Japan Pro Wrestling as IWGP Tag Team Champions with Scott Norton, defeating the legendary Steiner Brothers for the privilege. However, he is best known to Western audiences for his time in the WWF as anti-American heel, Ludvig Borga. Borga was even chosen as the man to end Tatanka's undefeated streak in 1993, a feat he achieved in convincing fashion.
While injury ultimately curtailed his WWF career, it did open the door to Hollywood and, in 1995, Halme was cast in Die Hard With A Vengeance. As the character of Roman, Halme was a background villain, playing one of the hired goons of the film's main antagonist, Simon Gruber (played by Jeremy Irons).
Halme's role was far from noteworthy to the average viewer but a memorable piece of trivia for wrestling fans. Grossing over $100 million at the box office, the movie was a huge success and gets regular airplay to this day. Sadly, Halme had several issues behind closed doors and committed suicide in 2010.
