10 Wrestlers That Bled The Hard Way

9. Randy Orton (WWE SummerSlam 2016)

Laughably deployed to set up a showdown at the end of SummerSlam with Shane McMahon, Brock Lesnar's bloodying of Randy Orton at least directly led to the finish - necessarily so considering the concussion 'The Viper' suffered as result of the attack.

In a claret-soaked assault that worked Chris Jericho into confronting him backstage believing it to be a gross misapplication of force, Lesnar menacingly did away with his fight gloves to pulverise Orton's face enough for the match to be stopped ahead of a tense showdown with SmackDown Live's General Manager (and Randy's storyline gaffer) 'Shane O Mac'.

Blood thickened and pooled under Orton's head as the boss and 'The Beast' stared one another down like anybody could possibly believe the former had a chance, but the visceral shock of the former 'Legend Killer' being left to die by his Ohio Valley Wrestling peer was a unique get-out to save him having to lose by pinfall instead.

A second singles match never came for Orton to gain some comeuppance, but nor did the planned Shane squabble. As satisfying as a similar ending against 'The Money' may have been, the opposite outcome still doesn't bare thinking about.
