10 Wrestlers Who Went Back To WWE After Failing To Become An Actor

3. Goldberg

Prominent works: Universal Soldier: The Return, Santa's Slay WCW's foolish mistake to end Goldberg's undefeated streak in 1998 might not be the only regrettable decision regarding a streak ending in pro-wresting history... but it certainly killed a lot of Bill Goldberg's momentum at the time. 1999 was an agonising, slow, steady death for WCW, the woozy heights of the nWo, Sting, Rodman, Malone and Goldberg himself giving way to Sid Viscious, Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett and eventually Vince Russo. For Goldberg himself, 1999 saw a series of disappointments, one after another. He ended Bret Hart's career, saw himself demoted the US Championship and his feature film debut: Universal Soldier: The Return, in which he played antagonist Romeo opened in theatres. With a budget of $45 million, the film returned... $10 million. A $35 million flop. Following that, Goldberg had a few minor guest spots in TV series' during 2001-02, when he was running his WCW contract down after the promotion closed. He would come to WWE in 2003 for a single year. Since then, his best claim to fame is a 2005 atrocious comedy/horror hybrid called Santa's Slay, during which Goldberg played a demon-possessed Santa, who went around attacking children at Christmas. It was as bad as it sounds. For the record, Goldberg is unique on this list (and a bit of a cheat) in that he has, as of yet, chosen not to return to professional wrestling ring.
