10 Wrestlers Who Are Enjoying A Career-Best Year In 2020
5. Drew McIntyre
Royal Rumble 2020 will be remembered for two things: the return of Edge, and Drew McIntyre’s well deserved win. While the former has had a year to forget, Drew’s 2020 has been nothing short of stellar.
The Scottish Psychopath’s initial WWE run was hampered by enormous expectations, and McIntyre will be the first to admit he wasn’t up for the task. After honing his craft elsewhere, he returned with a new physique and a focused mindset, and made his way to the top of the ladder.
He bested Brock convincingly at WrestleMania, and his title run was one of the best in recent years. Drew was well protected as champion, and never looked anything less than convincing. He had good to great matches with Seth Rollins and Randy Orton, and while he has since lost the belt, he looks set to remain in the main event picture.
It’s nothing short of tragic that Drew didn’t get to do all this before a baying crowd, but he took the empty arena era in his stride. Next time he grabs the gold, here’s hoping it’s in a packed arena (safely, of course).
