The current NXT UK General Manager and everyone's collective granddad has his place in British wrestling legend.

After a turn as a boxer in his youth, Saint learned how to wrestle after his mother introduced him to legendary British grappler, Billy Robinson.

This happened in the most British way possible; Robinson's mother cut Johnny's mother's hair. Robinson probably trained Saint by throwing crumpets at him.

Johnny made his name in the UK as a Light Heavyweight competitor and gained exposure through the popular World of Sport show on national TV.

Saint won numerous titles throughout his career, including the World Lightweight Championship ten times.

After initially retiring in 1997, Saint made a comeback more than a decade later for US indie promotion Chikara.

He competed in their King of Trios Tournament in 2009 in his late sixties and even shared a ring with Cesaro and Daniel Bryan.

Saint kept wrestling until 2015, when he had his final match for a promotion called Italian Championship Wrestling just two weeks shy of his 74th birthday.

Nine months later, Saint accepted a guest trainer role at the WWE Performance Centre and the rest, as they say, is history.
