10 Wrestlers Who Could Retire John Cena In 2022
2. Roman Reigns
If you were forced to put money on the identity of John Cena’s final opponent, the Tribal Chief would be the odds-on favourite. Reigns is currently out on his own as the top guy in the company, but WWE still seem inclined to add to his status wherever possible, and knocking Cena off his perch to indisputably hand over the torch could be the last piece of the puzzle.
Reigns certainly has the heft and status to be the guy to crush Cena for good, and it’s not a match that’s been done to death. Indeed, their two singles clashes to date have been a little disappointing; their No Mercy match was rushed, their SummerSlam bout didn’t live up to the exciting build. No doubt the two would fancy the chance to show precisely what they’re capable of together.
Even though we’ve seen the match a few months ago, with the exception of Reigns/Rock this still feels like one of the biggest events the company could possibly put on. To WWE’s discredit, Reigns has very much run out of opponents on the present roster. A chance to pit past against present once again, with the quality the two men are definitely capable of, would be welcome.
