10 Wrestlers Who Could Retire John Cena In 2022

Do we really want to see Cena vs Orton round 897? Two years ago, you’d have said absolutely not. The Viper, though, is arguably on the form of his life, clearly enjoying his work in a big way and looking lithe in the ring. Before it was done to death, the clash of the two PG pillars did feel like a major event, and perhaps it could again.

Besides, there’d be an undeniable poetry to Orton being the one to finally put Cena out to pasture. The legacy act vs the self made man, two hugely important and successful wrestlers whose careers have always felt intertwined.

Logistically speaking, with Cena most likely needed back on set after the match, there are few safer opponents for him to work with. This wouldn’t be about explosive in-ring action but shared history, the drama of these two decorated industry stalwarts locked in conflict, finally settling their differences at last.

Orton doesn’t need it, obviously, but it would feel pretty great to see one of the most dedicated professionals of all time finally triumphing over Hollywood Cena.
