1. Ric Flair

Ric Flair was an innovator on the mic. He, more than anybody before him, understood that in professional wrestling it was not enough to be a great athlete, one must be an amplified character able to grip an audience in the first few syllables. Flair was the first and greatest sports entertainment star. In any position, from World Champion to general manager, Flair delivered with an unmatched charisma and pure magnetism.

Since adopting his Nature Boy gimmick in the ‘70s, Flair has cut many great promos from his NWA days to the present. Flair excels on his delivery and flamboyant mannerisms, allowing him to turn any script into brilliance. His “to be the man, you have to beat the man” line is one of the most famous and most quoted utterances in the world of wrestling.

Flair’s ability to talk fans into questionable storylines was heavily tested during the dying days of WCW too. As on-air President, Flair was one of the few highlights of the company during its decline, able to elevate bullsh*t storylines to give at least brief bursts of entertainment.
