10 Wrestlers Who FORCED WWE To Push Them
3. Mick Foley
Another eventual icon Vince McMahon wasn't all that interested in signing all those years ago, hardcore legend Mick Foley was actually given a contract for a particularly bizarre reason.
As Jim Ross himself would eventually reveal on Talk is Jericho (via Sportskeeda), after approaching the WWE Chairman with the idea of bringing in the eventual Mankind, Vince quickly claimed that he wouldn't be going along with that idea.
After a bit of convincing, though, McMahon finally told Ross he could have his man. But this was simply his way of teaching JR a lesson because he wanted him to know how it felt to have his "heart broken by a talent that you have great belief in."
What a lovely man.
That obviously never happened.
Instead, Foley arrived in his leather mask in 1996 and went on to enjoy a pretty impressive first few years, tangling with The Undertaker as the two put on a number of classic matches.
That same bloke the boss once wanted absolutely nothing to do with would eventually go on to become one of the most beloved misfits in the business. And the unconventional talent even convinced McMahon to put the WWE title on him by the time 1999 came around.
