Let's end how we started: With a story that has been told many, many times before. 

Mike Awesome debuted on WCW Nitro on 10 April 2000 and immediately attacked Kevin Nash. There was just one problem: Mike was still the ECW Champion at the time. Owing to legal issues with Paul Heyman (quelle surprise), Awesome had jumped ship without officially dropping the belt, thus setting off a chain of events that we won't go into here.

Not only was this a major embarrassment on ECW's part, but Awesome was...well, awesome. An impossibly acrobatic big man with the strength to match, he was a totally unique prospect and could have been a world-beater. So, what did WCW do with him? They dressed him up in 70s gear and made him fall in love with plus-sized women.

These 2 infamous gimmicks ('That 70s Guy' and 'The Fat Chick Thriller') destroyed any credibility he might've otherwise had. Nobody's saying Awesome was going to single-handedly win them the 'Monday Night Wars', but he could have helped a damn sight more had WCW treated him with the respect he deserved.
