If you wanna talk about great debuts that went nowhere fast, then there’s only one name to mention…"IT’S TAZZ".

That was the iconic call made by Jim Ross at Royal Rumble 2000. Kurt Angle’s obnoxious demand for an open challenge was met by the former ECW Champ, who tore the roof off Madison Square Garden the moment he stepped onto the walkway. The 'Human Suplex Machine' made quick work of the Olympian, handing him his first ever loss with his patented Tazzmission. 

Sadly, the WWF wasted no time in cutting Tazz’s legs out from under him. Firstly, his win over Angle was overruled on account of him using an “illegal” hold. Secondly, his first proper feud was against Big Boss Man. Many old-school fans love them a bit of Boss Man, but he’s hardly Kurt f'n Angle is he?

By WrestleMania 2000, Tazz had been reduced to a bit-part player in the Hardcore Title Battle Royal. Then, by late 2001, he was a semi-retired colour commentator. His rough-and-tumble style and short stature just weren’t made for the WWF/WWE system, and he became yet another ECW stalwart to get lost in the shuffle.
