10 Wrestlers Who Made Insane Demands
5. Hulk Hogan Gets 25% Of The Live Gate
Bruce Prichard has admitted on his pod several times that the WWF were interested in bringing Hulk Hogan back towards the end of the '90s. They could see how Hulk had reinvented himself as the head of the nWo money machine, and they wanted any excuse to cut the head off WCW. Hogan, ever the savvy businessman, also knew how to play companies against one another.
So, in 1998, he reworked his WCW contract.
Amongst other things (including a mind-blowing $20,000 bonus just for wearing nWo merchandise on television), Hulk bagged himself a sweet pay rise and 25% of the live gate gross for Nitro, Thunder and pay-per-views. Think about how insane that clause is for a second. Hogan earned a quarter of the figure WCW amassed from selling tickets to fans.
That's unbelievable, but it happened. The stip carried a $25,000 minimum too, which meant Hulk would be guaranteed that amount of cash even if the arse fell out of WCW's live event business whenever he was on the show.
