Pat Patterson is considered to have one of the best minds in pro wrestling history, and for good reason - he came up with the idea for the Royal Rumble, and The Rock gave Patterson credit for helping him develop the character that made him a superstar. Still, nobody's right all the time.

In 1993, Patterson had an idea for the next major feud for Bret Hart - the former WWE Champion would be accosted by his jealous brother and refuse to fight him, only to experience such a terrible betrayal that the two would have to come to blows. The only thing he had to do was get Bret and his brother, Bruce, on board.

Reportedly, Bret immediately knew that the plan as suggested wouldn't work. He pulled Patterson aside and told him that for this to be a success, he should book the feud with Owen (who had gained a reputation as one of the best workers in the world) instead of Bruce. Patterson decided to go with Bret's advice, and the resulting feud was one of the greatest in WWE history.
