10 Wrestlers Who Still Have Something To Prove In AEW

8. Shawn Spears

Shawn Spears arrived in AEW determined to prove he was more than the limited “Perfect 10” gimmick but also had to prove he was more than just the boss’s mate.

The booking leaned into this with his early programme against Cody but the feud was only memorable for the former Tye Dillinger mistiming a chair shot. Afterwards Spears seemed content to continue to bate Cody long after the younger Rhodes brother had moved on to better things.

“The Chairman of AEW” was a reliably entertaining ringside presence during the empty arena era but elsewhere things haven’t been great for Spears.

His #SearchForSpears tag team partner hunt was quietly dropped with the onset of lockdown, a fun, news style segment proved to be a one-and-done that went nowhere, the Tully Blanchard pants reveal was an embarrassing attempt at comedy and Blanchard himself had found more prominent and important charges to occupy his time.

Worst of all, unless you count that comedy squash at the hands of Dustin Rhodes, Spears is yet to have a truly memorable feud or match to his name.
