10 Wrestlers Who Were Supposed To Get Other Wrestlers Over (But Got Over Themselves)
1. The Rock (Ken Shamrock)
"Die, Rocky, Die" had turned to 'Fly, Rocky, Fly' by early-1998. Haters were gonna' continue to hate, but The Rock harnessed that heat to become a midcard heel the WWF could count on. Even so, he was not the focal point when he began feuding with ex-UFC hard nut Ken Shamrock during WrestleMania XIV season.
Shammers was the one for management.
Matches at Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and King Of The Ring proved one thing though: Rocky had electrifying potential. Not only that, but he was able to carry the still-green Ken to enjoyable matches despite still being raw himself. Rock's rivalry with Steve Austin had been a test, and he passed it. Shamrock represented something different.
It was supposed to cement Kenny as a major player. Instead, it actually showed the WWF that The Rock was ready for greater things. He oozed personality, was improving all the time between the ropes and exuded a cool confidence even when working with fellow rookies.
Rocky ended up more over than the guy he was trying to get over.
