10 Wrestlers Who Will NEVER Be All Elite (And Why)

5. WALTER

John Cena Thuganomics
WWE

The Ring General was the king of the Indies towards the tail end of the last decade. His technically sound, super stiff wars made him a cult favourite who racked up titles in just about every promotion to book him. Rumours swirled of WWE and New Japan both throwing bids his way.

Despite his passion for the craft, WALTER turned down both, citing a disinterest in living outside of Germany as the primary reason. WWE have since gotten around this issue, instead hiring him to be the front man of their NXT UK show. While WALTER would be a nice fit in AEW (him chopping MJF would be very satisfying), they would encounter the same roadblock that prevented New Japan from acquiring him.

NXT UK has proven to be rather controversial amongst fans and wrestlers alike. Many have accused it of sabotaging the once beloved British indies scene, citing the decline of Progress in particular as a symptom of WWE’s presence. Socialist superstar David Starr was recently let go from wXw, WALTER’s German stomping grounds. By extension of WALTER and the Ringkampf boys joining NXT, wXw has begun a working relationship with WWE. The general consensus is Starr’s departure was a direct result of WWE’s disdain for his outspoken views and antics regarding the importance of unionising wrestling.

Consider that a sign of WALTER and wXw’s loyalty to WWE moving forward.
