10 Wrestlers Who Will NEVER Be All Elite (And Why)
3. Hulk Hogan
It is (presumably) safe to say that the Hulkster’s in ring years are behind him. Having not wrestled since 2012 (a six-man tag match for TNA’s Maximum iMPACT Tour of the UK ), Hogan has struggled with multiple back operations and some very compromising scandals.
Hogan has recently worked his way back into WWE’s good graces, turning up for a segment with Alexa Bliss at last year’s WrestleMania along with several of the Saudi Arabia shows. Late last year, he began to express an interest in a final match for WWE, preferably a WrestleMania XIX rematch with Vince McMahon. Despite Hogan’s training, the match did not occur at WrestleMania 36 and is unlikely to at all. Hogan has expressed regret that his final match did not occur in a WWE ring.
Despite having defected to both WCW and TNA in the past, a 3rd dalliance with a WWE rival (especially a more indie-friendly, anti-WWE one like AEW) is implausible given his age and current interests. Hogan’s time both onscreen and off in TNA has been widely criticised in the years since.
Given the negative reception to his booking and backstage behaviour, AEW wouldn’t want to bring the Cartoon Era favourite in anyway.
