It's easy to see how Shawn Michaels' legacy was revised because, helpfully, he retired twice. The first time around, he bowed out - albeit with some sympathy, given he'd suffered a horrific back injury - with something of a sketchy reputation, known for being a little difficult (to put it mildly) for his long-suffering co-workers. Whilst it didn't detract from his great matches, of which there were many, he wasn't exactly Mr. Popular.

But when he retired again in 2010, after an eight year run that was arguably even more accomplished than his original one. He is now fondly remembered as one of wrestling's good guys, always happy to lay down for the three count (unless it's Hulk Hogan laying on top of him, obviously), and never one to hog the lime light. In fact, he only won the world title the once after coming back. Proof, if it were needed, that a leopard can change its spots.
