10 Wrestlers Whose WWE Legacies Have Been Revised
2. Brock Lesnar
The strange thing about Brock Lesnar's career is that his original WWE run, which lasted from to 2002 to 2004, was (excluding a stint at OVW) shorter than his second, and current, spell from 2012 to present. Yet the former was far more prolific in terms of great matches and material accomplishments (partly because the roster was, perhaps, a little thinner back then, but mainly because, since his return, he's been on a part-time contract).
Fans were desperate for the UFC star to return to the squared circle ever since he took his ball home after WrestleMania XX, but the fact that he eventually came back to a less-active role has arguably been detrimental to his legacy. Had his involvement in professional wrestling ended after his original run, he would forever be known as the one that got away. The man who crammed just about everything - the King of the Ring, the Royal Rumble, the headline spot at 'Mania - into under two years. He's still comfortably one of the best ever, of course, but seeing him back, albeit only semi-regularly, has removed some of the mystique.
