10 Wrestlers WWE Fans Were Convinced Would Become Megastars (But Didn't)

3. John Morrison

When The Miz and John Morrison's tag team ended at the 2009 WWE Draft, it was a foregone conclusion that Miz would go on to become the 'Marty Jannetty' of the team.

Morrison had the look, the charisma, the energy, and the skill, whereas Miz was, well, The Miz. John Morrison was going to go on to win multiple world championships, headline WrestleManias and carve out a niche for himself as a top star.

Obviously things didn't quite work out like that. Morrison's WWE career peaked with three Intercontinental Championships, and The Shaman of Sexy was forced to look on as his would-be Jannetty went on to win the WWE Championship and headline WrestleMania XXVII.

Much like McIntyre and Bateman, Morrison has gone on to taste success outside WWE, performing in Lucha Underground as Johnny Mundo where he is the current champion.

There is no denying that Morrison failed to reach the heights in WWE that many assumed were his for the taking, and at 37 years old it is unlikely that The Prince of Parkour will get another shot.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
