10 Wrestlers WWE Must Not Rehire

Triple H shouldn't be tempted to bring ANY of these ex-WWE stars back.

Triple H's WWE has done a much better job of giving most workers something to do across Raw, SmackDown and NXT. Some are still camped out in catering twiddling their thumbs, but that's something Hunter has lessened since assuming control of the company from his father-in-law Vince McMahon.

'The Game' has also become adept at lacing shows with 'B', 'C' and even 'D' stories that ensure even those lower in the rankings still have a clear purpose week to week. Even so, the boss shouldn't overstuff his roster - it's busy enough, and Trips must only look sideways towards Tony Khan's AEW to see where signing every pro wrestler ever gets you.

In other words, he shouldn't bring anyone mentioned here back.

They've all either had their time in the sun or flopped trying to bask in it. Some were released pretty recently, and others...others would play before diminishing returns. A few would even stink up the place and surely turn in embarrassing matches nobody needs to see in 2024.

These wrestlers can still earn good cash elsewhere on the wrestling map. WWE? That's a firm no!

10. Gable Steveson

This just didn't work out, did it?

Gable Steveson was likened to Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle from the off due to his amateur and Olympic achievements. That was a mistake, one that quickly caught up with WWE execs once they realised Gable didn't quite take to their brand of wrestling like a duck might to water. Steveson started drowning.

His woeful match vs. Baron Corbin on NXT summed it up. Here was a dude WWE fully expected to be a natural, but he couldn't live up to the billing and was booed heavily. Unfair? Yes, but such is life. Gable has moved on to the NFL anyway, so he'll be fine long-term. WWE (and pro wrestling in general) just wasn't for him.

Lesson learned, or one that should be. Triple H cannot be tempted to bring Steveson back for another whirl if things don't pan out for him with the Buffalo Bills. There simply wasn't enough to his game to merit further patience - it's as cut and dried as that.
