10 Wrestlers WWE Must Sign For The Global Cruiserweight Series

3. Alex Shelley

I'll be honest, I'm more than a little biased with this one. My first memory of Alex Shelley was a match between him and a guy called Shocker at TNA Slammiversary 2005, and whilst it was Shocker who got the win it was Shelley who left an impression on me. Not long after this he was involved in a storyline with Kevin Nash, but he would mostly mill around the X-Divison being frustratingly underused. This changed in 2007, when he began teaming with Chris Sabin as the Motor City Machine Guns. The two fast became the most entertaining part of the show, and Shelley's talents were finally showcased properly. The Machine Guns' run reached its peak in 2010 with a five match series against Beer Money, which was arguably the greatest display of tag team wrestling in the modern era. It was simply a joy to watch. Alex Shelley now finds himself in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Rumours of him heading to WWE have been doing the rounds for a number of years and I would personally be thrilled to see him turn up in the company. The need for available outside talent for the Global Cruiserweight Series adds expectation to my hopes.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
