10 Wrestlers You Had No Idea Wrestled On TNA One Night Only
4. Danny Burch
Back when he was still under the alias of Martin Stone, one half of the reigning NXT Tag Team Champions was part of Impact's One Night Only event titled Gut Check.
Essentially a mass expansion on the old Gut Check format from a few years prior to the 2015 event, outside talent would face contracted Impact performers, with any victorious outsiders fighting amongst themselves to earn a contract of their own. This doesn't really work when, by the time it airs, two of the five finalists have been signed, but alas.
His qualifying match, if you will, against Jessie Godderz was nothing special whatsoever, with a rollup win over the former World Tag Team Champion coming after Jessie's sloppy attempt at a powerbomb. Stone's main event spot in the five-man Elimination Match alongside Crimson, Dalton Castle, Tevita Fifita (now Tanga Loa), and Shaun Ricker (now LA Knight) was meaningless, too.
He was the second man eliminated after Castle, eating a pinfall from Ricker. Stone did very little of note in the match, and on the night as a whole. Still, his pre-match promo in the night's opening match was decent, albeit the usual "I was held back for years" talk.
As Danny Burch, he's doing good things in NXT with Oney Lorcan and Pete Dunne now. This, sadly, was a blemish on his career.
