10 Wrestling Details That Aren’t As Important As You Think
1. Shawn Michaels In The NWO
One of the oft-forgotten parts of Shawn Michaels' legendary comeback in 2002 was the fact that, for about a month, he was part of the New World Order.
On the 3 June '02 episode of Raw, Kevin Nash introduced his old Kliq buddy as the newest member (and leader) of the group, which had been floundering in WWE since Hulk Hogan was kicked out of it at WrestleMania X-8.
HBK, who had been off TV for 18 months at this point, made his entrance in full nWo garb and superkicked Booker T out of the faction. Michaels would appear with them a few more times before the group was disbanded for good in July. One month later, Michaels would make his long-awaited in-ring return against Triple H at SummerSlam.
It's bonkers to think that this was the kayfabe reason for Michaels' return to TV and it's even more bonkers when you consider his nWo involvement never came up again.
With a legacy as big as Shawn's, it's understandable how some details of his career might get forgotten. But being a member of one of the biggest stables in wrestling? As technically its final leader? How do you leave that out?!
