Without being too harsh on the man, it is true that one must take everything Vince Russo claims with ye olde pinch of salt. The latest episode of Russo's 'Truth & Consequences' podcast told a story that was more palatable than his usual number-twisting, history-rewriting ways.

It also revealed that WWF creative, despite what some may claim, did watch WCW pay-per-views before Eric Bischoff changed the game.

According to Russo, he, Bruce Prichard and Jim Cornette were at Prichard's house watching Bash At The Beach 1996 when Hulk Hogan shockingly turned heel and formed the nWo. At that exact moment, Russo's eyes popped out of his head and he realised he'd much rather work for the forward-thinking WCW than a company promoting deadbeat gimmicks like T.L Hopper.

Bischoff has told before how he met with Russo around this time. The meeting was set up by Kevin Nash, who had become pals with Russo in the WWF. Though talks came to nothing, Vince did show interest in jumping ship.
