10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (16 Oct)
3. Raven Felt Chris Benoit Was Too Rushed
Scott 'Raven' Levy is considered by many of his peers as one of wrestling's great minds. A real student of the game, Levy perhaps never had the success his knowledge deserved. Regardless, the man had a lengthy career, and was able to work for ECW, WCW, WWE and even TNA during his stint as an active in-ring wrestler. During his time in WCW and WWE, Raven worked opposite Chris Benoit many times. Speaking during his appearance on Steve Austin's podcast, Raven surprisingly offered some criticism over Benoit's in-ring skills. The Canadian had a sorry end to his life, but he's always been regarded as one of the best pro wrestlers of his generation. In Raven's mind, he would have been even better if he'd only slowed the pace a little and taken more care in the ring. When working against Benoit, Raven assessed that it was impossible to adequately sell. Whenever the 'Rabid Wolverine' was in the mood, he'd relentlessly chase his foe around the ring. According to Raven, he'd often attempt to spill out onto the floor for some respite, but Benoit would continue chopping and trying to brawl. That didn't appeal to Levy, who wanted a more measured pace.
