5. David Arquette Thought DDP Was Joking About WCW Title Win
The circumstances surrounding David Arquette's WCW World Title win are well known. An actor, Arquette was also a pro wrestling fan who knew that fans would rebel on the idea of him holding such a prestigious championship. Nonetheless, the company pressed forward with the idea, crowning the Scream star on an episode of Thunder in April, 2000. On the show, Arquette teamed with his real-life friend Diamond Dallas Page to face Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett. Pinning Bischoff, the actor looked genuinely perplexed as he was handed the World Title and had his arm held aloft. During an interview with the Wrestling Inc Podcast, DDP told how his acting chum - whom he had met on the set of Ready To Rumble - giggled as he told him he would be the next champ. Page recalled how Arquette genuinely though he was being pranked when he heard about the idea. It took some time for DDP to convince the non-wrestler that he was going to be winning the belt on sooner rather than later, because it just seemed too surreal to David. It was only when a booking meeting was held with Arquette that he realised WCW were serious.
