During an NXT live event on April 21, Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor to become the new NXT Heavyweight Champion. For most people, this signifies that Balor is about to move up to the main roster, but it also shows faith from WWE officials in Joe himself.

Even so, the former TNA star doesn't really know what the most powerful man in the industry thinks about him.

Vince McMahon is still the most important decision-maker in WWE, but Joe told the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast this week that he has only experienced a few fleeting meetings with the boss. Those brief conversations gave no indication as to McMahon's true feelings towards the current NXT Champ.

It's logical to assume that Vince respects Joe, otherwise there's little chance he would have been hired, nevermind actually win a championship. Still, Triple H was probably the one most behind Joe's hiring and title victory.

It's fascinating to hear someone as established as Samoa Joe have doubts about his place in the industry.
