10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (April 22)
1. The New Day Shifted The Most Merch At WrestleMania
WrestleMania 32 grossed an unbelievable sum of over $17 million for WWE. A fair portion of that figure must be attributed to merchandise, thousands upon thousands of items were likely sold at the AT&T Stadium. With all the big stars on show, it's somewhat surprising to learn who sold the most.
Addressing fans on Twitter, Big E thanked everyone for purchasing 'unicorn horns', t-shirts and other merchandise associated with The New Day. Outselling everyone from John Cena and Roman Reigns, to Steve Austin and The Rock, the tag-team group shifted the highest volume of merch at WWE's biggest ever event.
That's a clear sign of New Day's popularity, but also a real indication that WWE have stumbled upon something big with the cartoon-like gimmick. There's just something insanely likeable about The New Day, and thousands of eager buyers obviously agree.
People even lined up to purchase their own New Day-branded box of cereal, 'Booty-O's'. When performers can sell items like that, you know the gimmick is working.
