Wade Barrett, David Otunga and Darren Young have all spoken in the past about how they were pulled into Vince McMahon's office and told all about their Nexus debut. With one beatdown of top star John Cena, the ragtag group of NXT wannabes suddenly had credibility, and they couldn't believe their luck.

On Sean Mooney's 'Prime Time' podcast, Ryback gave some more insight into that fateful night. According to him, there were panicked looks when a WWE staff member told them Vince wanted to see the group immediately. They weren't totally sure why they were at Raw to begin with, and worry set in that they were about to be demoted.

Ryback and pals thought OVW beckoned.

They were pleasantly surprised when McMahon informed them of the plan to kick Cena's ass and make a statement as a new heel faction. Nexus had just assumed that they were going to be repackaged in development after the NXT show's first season had finished.
