10 Wrestling Finishers That Could Legit Kill You

1. Punt

Combat isn't complicated. Professional wrestling is bursting with creativity, with complex moves that require incredible technique and God-given athleticism, not to mention an ability to conquer gravity. All these are great but what is the most devastating move in all of professional wrestling?

A simple punt to the head.

Remove the pretence and the showmanship of it all and this is as violent as it gets. From a running start, Randy Orton uses his full force to thrust his boot through the prone skull of an opponent, knocking them instantly unconscious. Well, that is unless you are Shawn Michaels, in which case it knocks you a little loopy for a short while.

Much like the stomp, the punt is dangerously easy to replicate in the real world and the perceived violence of it all is very real. It cannot be stressed enough just how fragile the human brain is, and the skull that protects it is not impervious. The punt is an almost guaranteed concussion at best, a method of murder at worst.

Unlike most moves on this list, the Punt is a pretty difficult move to 'perform', in a pro wrestling sense. That is because of its simplicity and the very real danger of kicking a human being in the head.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
