10 Wrestling-Inspired Movies That Would Be Better Ideas Than 'Crossface'
7. The Resurrection Of Jake The Snake
Already the subject of an ultimately-uplifting documentary, the story of Jake 'The Snake' Roberts covers both the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Roberts estimates that at one point during the prime of his career he was earning millions of dollars per year, before his personal demons led to a downward spiral that would take decades to recover from, leaving him almost penniless in the process.
Any potential biopic of the man born Aurelian Smith Jr. would need to tread a very fine line to avoid becoming a relentlessly downbeat exercise in misery. Roberts may have been one of the most popular and charismatic stars in the entire industry at the peak of his powers, but behind the scenes there was a self-destructive personality directly linked to a troubled childhood.
While it would hardly make for an easy watch given Roberts' abusive upbringing and battles with alcohol and drug addiction, the story would serve as a cautionary tale about the wrestling business, and would culminate on a triumphant note with Roberts' induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.
