10 Wrestling-Inspired Movies That Would Be Better Ideas Than 'Crossface'
6. The Plane Ride From Hell
One of the most infamous incidents in WWE history, the fabled 'Plane Ride From Hell' on May 5, 2002 is ludicrous in its tales of debauchery, so much so that the story would make the perfect subject matter for an R-rated jet-black comedy.
In recounting the events of the flight the real question is, where do you start? Even though the wrestling business is rife with its tales of excess and substance abuse, things really got out of hand on the privately-chartered flight. Curt Henning and Brock Lesnar engaged in an impromptu shoot wrestling match dangerously close to the plane doors, a wasted Dustin 'Goldust' Runnels serenaded his ex-wife Terri over the PA system, JBL knocked out Michael Hayes (who then had his signature mullet cut off by Sean Waltman), and Ric Flair found himself the subject of a sexual harassment lawsuit after exposing himself to the flight crew while wearing nothing but his famous jeweled robe.
Things were so out of control that even notorious hellraiser Scott Hall wasn't involved in the major incidents, as he was so strung out he had to have his pulse checked mid-flight to make sure he was still alive. Jim Ross described the passengers as being 'like children whose parents were away and left the liquor cabinet unlocked'. The 'Plane Ride From Hell' as a movie would be something akin to the bastard child of Shane Black and Quentin Tarantino set at 20,000 feet, which sounds pretty damn entertaining.
