10 Wrestling Matches Everybody Wanted (But Nobody Watched)
2. Liv Morgan Vs. Becky Lynch - WWE Raw, December 6, 2021
Liv Morgan boasts an ardent, cult-like online following.
It isn't quite on the level of Sasha Banks, but you'd still have to mute your notifications immediately if you dared mildly criticise her work. A marketable and likeable talent - when not reciting a scripted promo - she exudes a spirited, hard-working personality and without being a super worker is probably underrated in snob circles. She wrestles with a competitive energy, is athletic, has developed a creative arsenal and very rarely gets lost in there. Her matches don't threaten to crack MOTY ballots, but she's very easy to root for.
All of which encouraged WWE to position her in a mini-programme with Becky Lynch in late 2021. A fan-cast role, it didn't go well...
...at all; her December 6, 2021 main event with Becky posted a record low Raw rating of 0.35. The match was presented in the third hour, which dropped to 1.49m from 1.67; while up against fierce competition in the form of New England Patriots Vs. Buffalo Bills in the NFL, the sharp decline indicated that hardcore WWE fans intent on watching Raw weren't into the idea of Liv's big chance - possibly because she'd been framed as a geek out of her depth.
In a happier ending, Liv eventually did win the SmackDown Women's title and received a booming ovation for cashing in on Ronda Rousey at Money In The Bank 2011. The chants of "You deserve it!" were far louder than the library of December 6, and, thus far, they aren't quietening down.
