The formation of 'The Nexus' still stands out as one of the best moments in modern-day Monday Night Raw history. There was a different feel to the segment, standing out from the crowd on what had become a relatively stale formula WWE were slipping into with their flagship show. It's a moment nobody saw coming, and it made even guys like Justin Gabriel appear like bigger stars overnight. Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan, Michael Tarver, Darren Young, Justin Gabriel, David Otunga, Skip Sheffield and Heath Slater were the cast for the initial NXT series. Of course, those letters mean something else entirely now, but in the Summer of 2010, they represented very little to casual WWE fans. The faux-reality show had been a bust, but the events of June 7th, 2010 changed that. Attacking the biggest star in the entire company, John Cena, the newly-formed Nexus looked like a vicious gang of upstart wrestlers. Bryan would be released short-term by WWE for spitting on Cena and choking Justin Roberts with his own tie, but such brutality only added to the aura surrounding the moment. The dangerous feel of the group wouldn't last, but WWE booked one hell of a first chapter for The Nexus.
