10 Wrestling Stories That Prove Haku Was Badass
2. The Jesse Barr Incident (Haku)
The final two stories were urban legends, much like the previous items on the list. However, thanks to Haku himself taking part in a shoot interview, there is confirmation from the man himself that the incidents in question actually took place.
The fight with Jesse Barr is one of the most legendary stories surrounding Haku. Barr was something of a journeyman wrestler and reached the height of his fame as part of the Funk family while going by the moniker of Jimmy Jack Funk.
The story goes that Haku was walking with Barr during a tour of Puerto Rico, when Barr decided to kick dirt onto a man who was digging ditches. Offended by this slight against a hardworking man, Haku is alleged to have ripped Barr's eye out of its socket, with some versions of the story going so far as to claim that Barr wrestled with a glass eye for the rest of his career.
Haku spoke about the incident himself and revealed it to only be partially true. While the altercation certainly happened, with Haku getting Barr into the position where he could pop his eye out of the socket, the Tongan claims that he realised that Barr was a brother on the road and had a family to support so he stopped himself from going through with it.
