In typical Attitude era fashion, Stephanie McMahon went from innocent, drugged-up patsy in Triple H's power battle with Vince McMahon to vindictive witch who nuzzled tightly into her new man's chest against her father's wishes. Things all came to a head at Armageddon 1999, but not before quite the story was told.

Triple H had married Steph presumably against her will during a hasty drive-thru ceremony in Las Vegas, and he waited until she was just about to wed Test before dishing the news. That sent Vince into a fit of rage, and it set up a 'No Holds Barred' corker at Armageddon. There, sweet little Stephanie showed her cards.

The McMahon-Helmsley Regime was born.

It barely made sense, but that didn't stop fans from buying into the melodrama, feeling slightly sorry for Vince and showering the happy couple with hate. Stephanie immediately became one of the most over heels in the promotion, and Triple H had a 2000 so strong it rivalled any 12 month period in wrestling ever.
