10 WWE Gimmick Matches That Totally Sucked

6. Chairs Match

When ranking the best matches from the annual TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, the Chairs match typically finishes near the bottom of the list. Not only have chairs become commonplace in the wrestling world but it is incredibly difficult to come up with new, fresh and interesting ways to use them within the context of a match. They were, after all, designed to hit people with.

Definitely not to sit on.

Look no further than the 2014 Chairs match between Ryback and Kane as an example of how bad some of the matches featuring that gimmick can be. The big men failed to deliver anything resembling an entertaining match. The lack of success for it cannot be blamed on the performers themselves. Everyone from John Cena to Alberto Del Rio has struggled to craft a compelling match.

When that many Superstars, who have held as many titles as they have and competed in as many main events as they have, struggle with a given gimmick match, perhaps it is time to eliminate it from the equation.
