10 WWE Jobbers Who Became World Champion

8. Britt Baker

Two things you might remember from the 2016 soft reboot of Raw post-brand split. One, Nia Jax wasn't like most girls. Two, WWE brought back enhancement matches for fresh stars like Jax and new monster hope Braun Strowman. James Ellsworth made the most of that to carve out an unlikely run as one of SmackDown's surprise package babyfaces, but Britt Baker wasn't so lucky.

No, she only got to get mauled by Nia in a brief bout on the 25 July episode of the flagship. Later, Britt returned to take a pasting from MMA machine Shayna Baszler on NXT in 2018. Something had to give. That 'something' was the advent of AEW. Baker found a home in Tony Khan's new operation, and she'd go on to become one of the promotion's first major female stars as 'D.M.D'.

In other words, a better wrestling dentist than that darn phoney Isaac Yankem could ever be. Who did he ever beat?!

All Elite's product reenergised the biz, and the fanbase were only too happy to treat Britt like AEW's very own Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair. It didn't last all that long, but it was incredible to see her go from lowly WWE jobber who couldn't snag a full time gig to a genuine star elsewhere. AEW put their Women's Title on Baker in 2021, and rightly so.

Today, her career is a bit all over the place. That's not said with any glee, by the way, but it is the truth. Baker's star has fallen. She was a trailblazing character for AEW's female ranks at one point though.
