10 WWE Legends Embarrassed By Their Own Matches

5. Steve Austin (WrestleMania X8)

By his own admission, Steve Austin was fit to burst by the time WrestleMania X8 rolled around. He'd been running hard, and was less-than-thrilled when WWE told him he'd be doing the job for Scott Hall in Toronto; weirdly, according to Jim Ross, Vince McMahon played some mind games with Austin by refusing to tell him he'd already changed that decision.

It would've been too late anyway. Austin was already dreading the thought of a midcard berth against Hall on a show he'd headlined just 12 months earlier, and they ended up having a short (and rather awkward) 10-minute scrap on the pay-per-view. It was one that left Austin unsatisfied and scratching his head.

How the mighty had fallen.

Austin has spoken before about his friendship with Hall on his podcast, but also made sure to note that he wasn't exactly up for the match when he learned that Scott had been out drinking the night before. Perhaps he knew it'd be a nightmare, and a match he'd look back on in years to come and cringe.
