10 WWE Matches Everyone Asked For (Which Ended Up Sucking)
5. Shawn Michaels Vs. Mr. Perfect - SummerSlam 1993
Keeping with The Heartbreak Kid and his unfortunate habit of sometimes being at the centre of hotly anticipated bouts that fail to deliver, here's that time the rising WWE sensation finally came to blows with a an in-worker who can only be described as "Perfect" at SummerSlam 1993.
In any other universe, Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, bad back or not, battling against the electric and ridiculously talented foil he had in Shawn Michaels would've produced a contest for the ages. However, what ultimately came to pass on the night of August 20 was an 11-minute snooze-fest.
On top of a count-out finish that will almost always guarantee a match is doomed to be forgotten, the usually slick performers just couldn't seem to click on the night as the disjointed Intercontinental title match did little more than make Diesel feel like a force to be reckoned with. Hardly the most desirable outcome for a contest starring two of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots.
Sure, Michaels wasn't the calibre of worker he'd go on to be later down the line, and Perfect's body wasn't exactly 100%, but this mouth-watering showdown still felt like a massive missed opportunity.
