10 WWE Moves That Had To Be Renamed
1. FU
Arguably the most famous incidence of the WWE renaming a move was also its most high-profile.
Before the dawn of the PG-era, John Cena’s finishing move was known as the FU. This was of course an obvious pun on Brock Lesnar’s F-5, with Cena even referencing that fact in a backstage rap on SmackDown in 2003.
Fast-forward to today though, and the family-friendly product switch has seen the FU become the much more amicable Attitude Adjustment.
It’s something of a shame, as Cena’s inception of the FU name was quite the clever twist. Similarly, the U has also been dropped from his STFU, completing the transition from Dr. of Thuganomics to company posterboy.
We may not agree with every name change that the WWE oversees, but in this case—as well as many of those previously mentioned—it’s easy to see the rationale behind such decisions.
