10 WWE Moves That Had To Be Renamed

2. Blackout

Seth Rollins’ curb stomp recently made headlines after it seemed that the WWE World Heavyweight Champion had removed the move from his repertoire. But the curb stomp as we know—or knew it, as the case may be—wasn’t always named as such.

During his tenure in NXT, and also his early days on the main roster, his curb stomp was referred to as the blackout.

In retrospect, it’s somewhat surprising that the WWE made this change. While the blackout sounds like your typical pro wrestling move, the curb stomp is a much more visual name with far more violent connotations.

Perhaps if they’d retained the original name, we’d still be seeing Rollins use the move today. One another note, the move was also briefly known as Piece of Mind. A catchy name, yes, but it didn’t really have too much to do with Rollins’ gimmick, thus it’s no great loss that this one was left to fall by the wayside.
