From @MikeAJGriffin: If audience figures get bad enough, do you think WWE could move Raw and SD to the WWE Network and go direct to advertisers?
It won't be any time soon since the USA TV deal expires in around three years. They are paying WWE a substantial amount of money in the range of about $150 million per year. Plus, there are all the other television contracts with worldwide partners that are significant revenue streams as well. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to walk away from all that money while only relying on direct advertising. Maybe in 15-20 years that's how TV will go, but I have serious doubts about that and don't think it would be any time soon. What WWE should do is consider doing more live event specials for WWE Network. How about a two hour divas only WWE Network event every two months? That would be fun to watch. It wouldn't be a bad idea to resurrect the Saturday Night's Main Event name as a WWE Network special. Bringing back a concept like Cyber Sunday or Taboo Tuesday could work for the Network, too. Adding live content to WWE Network is a great idea, but they just aren't doing enough at the minute.
