By all accounts, The Fabulous Moolah was an atrocious human being who ran a wrestling school for women that served purely to fleece them out of what little money they earned. Moolah acted as a pimp, and when I say 'pimp' I don't mean 'I'm using language to spice this up', I mean she literally sold her female wrestlers to promoters.

Moolah also ruled women's wrestling with the most iron of fists, and as a result her record for the longest WWE Women's Championship is going to last forever and ever and ever and ever. It is the sort of record that even as you break it down, it gets more and more ridiculous

Moolah was the first women's champion in company history, winning the title in 1956. The second recognised champion was Wendi Richter, who won the belt in 1984. No, not a typo@ that really was an almost 28 year reign. 10,170 days.

Moolah actually lost the belt 5 times during that run, but none of the changes are recognised. Even then, when she won the belt back she would go on to hold it for years, her interim reigns lasting 515, 2862, and 2113 days. Moolah was also the beneficiary of the original screwjob, fast counting the unwitting Richter out of the title just five days after my birth in November 1985.

So yeah, f*ck the Fabulous Moolah. Let her record of 27 years stand forever, but let her name rot.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
