10 WWE Returns That Nobody Asked For (Which Ended Up Being Awesome)
3. Randy Orton (2016)
Though you could argue that his character has grown stale on a number of occasions throughout his never-ending WWE tenure, Randy Orton felt particularly dull towards the end of 2015.
After feuding with Seth Rollins and The Authority for a spell, Orton went back and forth with Sheamus before being written off television in October due to a legitimate injury, just before he was scheduled to take on The Wyatt Family with Dean Ambrose on the Hell in a Cell pre-show.
Orton was then absent from WWE TV for around nine months, with most people being too wrapped up in the main roster arrivals of stars like AJ Styles and Finn Bálor to notice. Yet, once he'd gotten an absolute mauling at the hands of Brock Lesnar out of the way at SummerSlam, the former WWE Champion slowly began to become an interesting prospect again.
Not long after re-locking horns with The Wyatt Family, Orton dramatically joined the team and a compelling few months, which included a SmackDown Tag Team Championship reign, Team SmackDown Survivor Series victory and Royal Rumble success, astoundingly followed.
Of course, this awesome run would ultimately lead to that WrestleMania 33 match and the infamous House of Horrors disaster. But, for a few months, the return nobody was begging for actually produced a number of commendable moments.
