10 WWE Returns That Were Completely Wasted
8. Chris Jericho
Over the years, WWE legend and current AEW star Chris Jericho has had more than a few grand returns to Vince McMahon's company.
However, not all of his comebacks have been as successful as the likes of his stunning 2013 Royal Rumble appearance or his 'Did you break the code?' 2007 return after two years away from WWE.
One particularly poor re-emergence went down at the 2015 Night of Champions PPV when Jericho was revealed as Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose's surprise partner. Y2J had been showing up on the house show circuit for much of the year, but this marked one of his first real appearances on TV in some time. Yet, even though it's always awesome to see the first ever Undisputed WWE Champion, Jericho being revealed as the star to help Reigns and Ambrose overcome the Wyatt Family and their newest hulking member Braun Strowman felt like an odd choice.
Jericho would eventually be choked out by Strowman, costing his team the match, and was then off television until early 2016. Bringing the veteran back to be cannon fodder for one night only felt like a huge waste of such a recognisable face who likely could've added something interesting to the developing Wyatt Family vs. two halves of The Shield storyline.
By the time he made his proper return to weekly television, this pointless one-off appearance had been all-but forgotten and Jericho soon set his sights on WWE's newest commodity - AJ Styles.
