10 WWE Reunions That Were False Dawns
2. The Road Warriors (2003)
One of the single greatest tag teams ever to lace up the legendary boots, The Legion of Doom or Road Warriors, set the tone for what a big-man tag team could accomplish.
Both armed with intimidating shoulder armour and visceral face paint, Michael 'Hawk' Hegstrand and Joseph 'Animal' Laurinaitis, won the tag titles in the WWF/E, New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling, to name a few.
The team ceased to exist on WWF television in 1999, after falling in their bid to take the WWF Tag Team Championships from Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett.
With four years away from the company, the original Road Warriors would mark their final appearance on WWE television with a match against the current World Tag Team Champions, Rob Van Dam and Kane in 2003.
Unsuccessful they may have been, but the crowd blew up when they marched down to the ring, giving the team reason to think another run could be on the cards.
Nothing came of it.
Four months later Hawk died, and the pair would never grace a WWE ring as a unit again.
